COT SS - People with Learning Disabilities
We promote high standards of occupational therapy practice within the field of learning disability by supporting networking and sharing expertise, latest techniques and new information with our local and national Occupational Therapy network.
We organise educational events, act in an advisory and consultative capacity, and provide updates on developments in national policies affecting learning disability services.
Support each other's professional development and work cooperatively to shape and influence learning disability national policy.
Our networks create links between occupational therapists and students who have an interest in people with learning disabilities.

- Involving service users in the research process
- Service users with intellectual disabilities can play an important role in the research process. Many writers believe that involving service users' in designing the information gathering tools and evaluating the results leads to outcomes that are more relevant to people's needs and concerns, more reliable and more likely to be used (Involve 2009).
